Singapore Recommits to Sustainability and Decarbonization in Maritime Industries
Singapore is globally recognized as a leader in innovation and technology. This stance remains supported by the city-state’s continuous commitment to R&D in a broad range of industries – most recently, the Maritime industry. Singapore’s Maritime Port Authority (MPA) and DNV have announced their continued collaboration on decarbonization and digital innovation in the maritime industry.
Kenneth Lim, Assistant Chief Executive (Industry and Transformation), Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and Cristina Saenz de Santa Maria, Regional Manager South-East Asia, Pacific & India, Maritime at DNV, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to renew their partnership at the Singapore Norway Innovation Conference. The three-year MOU is a sign of a new term of cooperation between the two.
The initiative builds on a 2019 extension of an MoU first drafted back in 2014, nearly a decade ago. The initial MoU aimed to cover critical emerging trends within the maritime industry and has been expanded to include decarbonization, digitalization, and talent development for both sustainable and smart maritime ecosystems.
“Decarbonization and digitalization are the two most important trends shaping the maritime industry today. Our continuing collaboration, cemented by today’s MoU extension, signifies DNV’s commitment to drive ever forward with MPA Singapore and deliver key decarbonization and digital transformation milestones within the industry,” said Cristina Saenz de Santa Maria, Regional Manager South-East Asia, Pacific & India, Maritime at DNV.
